Hospitals and health systems continue to struggle with staffing and revenue cycle challenges in the post-COVID-19 era. Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) CA is no exception. CHOC leadership wanted to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) could:

- Lessen workload for current employees
CHOC reached out to Meduit to leverage AI to automate its front, mid and back-end processes and support its revenue cycle operation. Meduit recommended SARA (Supervised Autonomous Revenue Associate) to assist staff with repetitive actions that would move processes and claims forward, thereby increasing productivity and freeing up scarce resources to handle more complex tasks.
CHOC implemented SARA carefully with just a few tasks to test her capabilities. SARA is now performing seven business office functions for CHOC with seven more tasks in the development stage. CHOC is looking forward to adding additional automated processes soon.
