Support for Staffing Issues and Revenue Acceleration Posted on August 23, 2022 Hospitals, health systems and physician groups across the country are dealing with staffing shortages due to the impact of COVID-19. These shortages hamper efforts to resolve patient accounts and accelerate needed revenue. Leveraging the right revenue cycle management (RCM) solutions that employ artificial intelligence (AI) can drive efficiencies, reduce cost and increase collections. When a large healthcare system in the upper Midwest struggled with staffing and resource challenges, system leadership engaged an expert AI RCM provider to deliver support for staffing, solve specific RCM challenges and achieve higher account resolution. Through AI solutions, the system was able to automate the following tasks to advance account resolution: - Clearing backlog of 17,000+ undistributed transactions - Working 2,000+ claims per month - Statusing 250+ authorizations a day By employing AI to handle these tasks, the healthcare system’s RCM staff was freed to focus on more complex RCM issues and advance their revenue cycle performance.
