    Indiana HFMA Spring Institute Update

Rural and suburban hospital viability and independence

Rural and suburban hospital viability and ability to maintain independence hit the top of the list of topics at the Indiana HFMA Spring Institute May 20-21 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Meduit Relationship Managers Eric Day and Angie Flora represented our organization and the team spoke with numerous healthcare executives regarding their revenue cycle and accounts receivable needs and concerns.

There was an important panel focusing on rural and suburban hospital viability and ability to maintain independence hit the top of the list of topics at the event with a CFO-led panel featuring:

    • Jeff Wakefield, Marion General Hospital
    • Brenda Baker, Riverview Health
    • Marlene Weatherwax, Columbus Regional Hospital
    • John Kraft, Woodlawn Hospital

Conference participants noted that revenue cycle management is a big part of maintaining viability for independent hospitals and will continue to be important through the next decade and beyond.

“Artificial Intelligence was another big topic of conversation among the attendees. Specifically, people were asking how AI can help cut costs while still keeping the organization compliant, and what AI companies are offering. AI is going to be a big thing going forward, and it’s not going away anytime soon.” Eric said.

The HFMA Networking Committee sponsored a raffle for an Amazon Ecco with Angie taking the lead to select a charity to benefit from the proceeds. Angie chose the Hoosier Burn Camp which will receive $750 from raffle ticket sales. Hoosier Burn Camp is a nonprofit organization committed to providing life-changing experiences for young people who have suffered the physical and emotional trauma associated with a severe burn injury. Meduit is proud to be part of making a difference in the community wherever we can.
