The daily to-do list for RCM teams never seems to get shorter. Not with AI-powered denials flooding in, rising patient balances, and a limited staff to handle it all. Hospital business offices consistently have their hands full, and that’s putting it mildly.
What business offices have in their favor is the number of ways they can respond. Generative and agentic AI are adding capabilities in different areas. With AI taking on more of the workload, the RCM professionals hospitals do have can be deployed more strategically, matching their experience levels to the appropriate tasks.
Having more options at their disposal is good news for hospitals, of course. But, and it’s a huge but, it means someone has to figure out how all of the parts work together. Most business offices are so busy just trying to keep up with all the work that they have little time to identify the right balance.
Finding a way to get different levels of AI and RCM professionals working in sync is the real capacity question facing hospitals today. Not how many people should we hire, but how do we get the most out of the resources we have?
The September edition of Cycle Up, Meduit's award-winning RCM magazine, gets into answering that question and more. The pieces are all there for hospitals to utilize. This issue sheds some light on how they fit together to deliver the capacity hospitals need.
